Baring Falls can be reached by taking a small stroll in the forest that starts from Sunrift Gorge Pullout. Sunrift Gorge is located at 9.9 miles west of St. Mary Entrance along the Going-To-The-Sun road. It is very family friendly hike that is 0.6 miles easy round trip that takes through a dense forest to the beautiful falls.

Easy Hike to Baring Falls Glacier National Park
Trail starts by taking the stairs on either side of the Sunrift Gorge Pull out point. Climbing the stairs above takes to the Sunrift Gorge and a viewing point. Following down south takes to sign board which is trail head for Baring falls.
The trail head is next to a stream of gushing blue waters flowing from the gorge. Soon the trail moves in to green forest with burnt remains of trees that survived the massive fire few years ago. The trail descends gently 250 feet and you reach Baring Falls/Sun Point junction.
For Baring Falls, take right. At 0.3 miles, there is a wooden log bridge to cross and on the right is Baring Falls that drops down from height of 25 feet.
Hikers looking for more adventurous waterfall hiking can proceed on trail towards St. Mary Falls. On walking ¾ mile from Baring Falls, you reach a junction for St. Mary Falls shuttle stop. You can either wait to hop on a Glacier’s shuttle or continue walking left to junction towards St. Mary Falls.
St. Mary Falls is famous for its crystal-clear waters. Hike to St. Mary Falls is an easy 1.6 mile round trip when done from St. Mary Falls shuttle stop.
Virginia Falls is another 0.8 miles past St. Mary Falls. Spur trail offers different view points to view Virginia Falls.
Baring Falls and St. Mary Falls are easy hike that can be done with small children and family. But trails are not stroller friendly. Hike to St. Mary Falls and Virginia Falls is very popular day hikes in Glacier National Park.
Parking spots at Sunrift Gorge is very limited. I highly recommend starting early in the morning to reach the trail head. The other option is to utilize Park’s shuttle service from St. Mary Entrance station in the east or from the Logan Pass or Apgar Visitor Center in the west.
If you looking for adrenaline pumping hiking experience then hike the Highline Trail at Logan Pass.
